Divergences of interests
In conflict situations, people will tend to stick to their position and defend their point of view in light of that position.
However, moving towards a resolution of the conflict will force people to take a turn towards interests.
In conflict management, it is important to keep the focus on the interests at stake and not on the positions. It is these interests that come to influence a person's position. They are rarely verbalized and often changeable.
However, they are the ones who push people to action; they are the guiding force behind positions.

In a constantly changing world, people develop and interact with each other with divergent interests.
Good leadership begins with knowing yourself and your conflict management style.
